Grief is a difficult and painful emotion, and often misunderstood. Societal expectations, cultural norms and social nuances further complicate matters at a time when a griever needs compassion, care and a safe space in which to mourn a loss.
This class introduces massage therapists to important tools, language and techniques, to confidently address grief and help grieving clients. It also provides an overview of how the body processes and expresses grief. Simple techniques, and designing treatment and post massage care plans, all while staying in the scope of practice, help massage therapists feel empowered and confident as they hold space for their clients.
NOTE: This is a continuing education class for professional Massage Therapists only. This class is not open to other professions or the public.

Instructor: Marelda Rodrigues, FMCHC, CNMT, is a Grief Massage Therapist, Certified NeuroMuscular Therapist, Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach, author, speaker, traveler and culinary enthusiast, with over 20 years of experience in the health and wellness space. Marelda is on a mission to stop the suffering of grievers worldwide. She believes that mourning is normal and crucial to healing, but suffering is optional. Through this mission, Marelda trains practicing massage therapists learn Grief Massage so they can be the ripple effect in healing communities. Healed people heal people and this is the basis of her mission.
Through her vision around Grief Wellness, Marelda helps her clients feel comforted and empowered when they’re in grief. Her whole person care approach includes massage therapy, nutrition, movement, mindset, connection and sleep solutions.
