Class Description:
This course is about healing pain at the root cause. It is designed for massage therapists who are looking to improve their abilities in the medical massage sphere and gain greater depth and breadth of knowledge for addressing pain.This class is evidence based and informed from a structural integration lens. Techniques on saving your hands for career longevity in bodywork, and proper body mechanics will be explained and demonstrated.

Finesse, nuance and efficacy of technique are emphasized. Additionally the class will review ICD-10 codes, communication skills, and S.O.A.P. charting.

Instructor Bio:
Essie began her journey in the healing arts and massage in California at the Mt. Shasta Herbal Company, where she apprenticed after completing high school. Growing up in a family of bodyworkers and herbalists, she has dedicated her life to the exploration of natural healing. After graduating from The Alexandar School of Natural Therapeutics in 1999, Essie embarked on a two-year teaching internship before starting her own classes. Over seven years, she taught various subjects, including Spa and Hydrotherapy, Sports Massage, Clinical Treatments, and Prenatal and Infant Massage. Her bodywork is influenced by a structural integration perspective, emphasizing the practitioner’s body mechanics grounded in martial arts science. Essie also holds a bachelor’s degree in social science, studied education in Uppsala, Sweden, and earned a master’s degree in public administration.
