Santa Fe – Ortho-Bionomy® Basics: Focus on the extremities

October 16, 2021 @ 9:00 am - October 17, 2021 @ 6:00 pm

$385

Ortho-Bionomy originated in the early 1970’s, founded by British trained osteopath Arthur Lincoln Pauls DO. Dr. Pauls coined the name Ortho-Bionomy meaning a corrective application of the natural laws of life. It is gentle and non-forceful; the techniques stimulate innate self-corrective and self[1]regulating mechanisms to address tension patterns and imbalances.

Ortho-Bionomy happens from the inside out. Ortho-Bionomy employs a range of hands-on methods—positioning, movement and isometric/isotonic engagement. It is easy on the therapist’s body as well as the client’s and works well with other modalities of bodywork and systems of health care. This two-day Extremities class presents the history and principles of O-B and basic release techniques for the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hands, hips, knees, ankles and feet. Students also learn through experience how releases of the extremities affect the body as a whole.

Focus includes basic anatomy and functions of the joints, palpatory sensitivity, client/practitioner relationship awareness, presence, grounding and communication skills. In the process of dialoging with practice partners students learn to integrate clients’ felt experience with their own observations and assessments. Students benefit from exchanging with different practice partners during the class to gain understanding of how the techniques are fine tuned for different individuals.

October 16-17 (Santa Fe)
9am-6pm both days for 16 CE
