BODY-BRAIN CONNECTION
Neuroscientific research shows that our brains are genetically hard-wired for connection and attachment. The rigorous social restrictions over the past 14 months due to the Pandemic has deprived many of us exactly from those basic human needs necessary for our well-being: touch, play, intimacy, connection with others.
Coming back more fully into our massage therapy practices, building an environment of safety and trust for both practitioner and client is more important than ever. Furthermore, the quality of the therapeutic relationship is as crucial a healing agent as the quality of the actual massage treatment. Attunement and empathy, rooted in our mirror neurons, play a major role in supporting our clients’ ability of healing.
We will study the basic building blocks and function of the brain with focus on the “relational brain” and the nervous system, the flow between body and brain, and how we can utilize this knowledge in our professional practice as well as our personal life. We will apply principles of interpersonal neurobiology including empathy, mindfulness and relationship as healing tools in our work. In a playful way we will delve into body/brain experiences that will help us to deepen the connection to ourselves and others and promote a vital and inspired exchange with our clients.
