Bodymechanics – A diverse company in Olympia

Sometimes, I want to pinch myself at how far Bodymechanics has come since I bought the school in 2010.  Let me explain.

Back in 2009, I took over management of Bodymechanics, which had been closed due to

the horrible economy.  When I reopened the school, I had 6 students who trusted me with their education.  I was determined to make it a success that’s for sure, but it wasn’t always easy in those early days.  I officially became the owner in 2010 and recently  passed the five year mark owning Bodymechanics School in July of 2015.  The picture there –>, those were the first 6 students I helped get their massage license .

Since those early days, it has been a whirlwind of activity leading up to the diverse company we are today.  We now graduate close to 50 students in our massage school every year.

Bodymechanics School has shared more than just physical space with our professional clinic.  Students have the unique opportunity to shadow and collaborate with our professional staff.

In 2011, I added the boot camp facility to our offerings.  Some might wonder why I added the bootcamp – it might not make sense with the massage school.  However, the reasons for adding the bootcamp are important to understand.  My brother passed away in 1997 at the age of 36 of a stroke.  It was devastating for our family.  I didn’t comprehend until recently just how important the bootcamp is to me personally – but the goal is to help everyone I am able help get healthy so another family isn’t devastated by the untimely death of a loved one.  My favorite saying is “movement is life – stillness is death.”  For this reason, the bootcamp is of utmost importance to me personally.  When I help someone get healthy via the bootcamp, then I know I’ve done my job.

2012 brought more great news for Bodymechanics as we were able to secure our permanent home in Tumwater with our building at 2330 Mottman Road SW, #106.

Dedicated space allocated for our professional clinic, for Bodymechanics School of Myotherapy & Massage, and space for the bootcamp.   On any given day, we have between 50-150 people walk in our door between the clinic, the school, and the bootcamp.  Living our passion everyday, helping others reach their goals is satisfying to our staff.

Moving forward to 2015, another major growth spurt took place as we launched the Bodymechanics School of Personal Training, offering 2 levels of certification for students:  Level 1 is our basic CPT program, and Level 2 continues on to a Corrective Exercise Specialist certification.  In August, Bodymechanics School signed an exclusive school partnership with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) where we now offer our personal training certifications utilizing NASMs curriculum.  Securing a 50-mile radius for Bodymechanics and NASM allows us unparalleled growth potential, and the gold standard personal training education for our students.

Bodymechanics – a diverse company in Olympia

As we move into 2016, our focus has turned towards the “Bodymechanics experience” and identifying what it means to those who access our services.  With the diversity of our consumers between the clinic, the school and the bootcamp, each one has a different goal inside our building.  Yet, each diverse company plays an important and overlapping role with everyone:

  • Students learn from the best instructors around and have the unique opportunity to shadow and collaborate with our professional clinic staff.
  • Clients in our professional clinic can access student massages as well as personal training or bootcamp classes.
  • Bootcamp members can access our student massages, our professional staff and our personal trainers.
  • Our students can cultivate client building skills by working with the public and our bootcamp members.
  • Students and professional staff are often seen working together in different events in our communities.

Bodymechanics is poised to make an even bigger splash in 2016 with yet more growth, new programs to further guarantee student success, new ways to connect in the communities we serve, and creation of a network of businesses who support our goals and mission.

So, stay tuned for bigger and better than ever before!
